Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to charge an EV at BC Hydro stations?

Your annual kilometres multiplied by the vehicle's energy use (kWh/100km) and BC Hydro's public rate: Level 2 or fast charging, or a mix of both. Results show daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cost.

Is Level 2 cheaper than fast charging?

Yes. BC Hydro charges less per kWh for Level 2 than for fast charging (25 kW+), and Level 2 has no idle fee. Set your Level 2 share in the calculator to see the difference.

Do the costs include tax or home charging?

No. Rates are shown before 5% GST and cover BC Hydro public charging only. Charging at home on a residential rate is usually cheaper.
