How to Compare Quotes From Multiple Dealers
A simple checklist for lining up quotes fairly, so you pick the best deal and not just the lowest monthly payment.
Getting quotes from more than one dealer is the easiest way to save money. But quotes are rarely laid out the same way, so you need to line them up before you compare.
The checklist
1. Same car? Same model year, trim, colour if it matters to you, and options or packages.
2. Same payment terms? For financing or leasing, the same term length, the same down payment, and for leases the same kilometres per year. A lower payment over 84 months is not a better deal than a slightly higher one over 60.
3. What is the out-the-door total? Every fee, add-on, and tax included. This is your main comparison number.
4. What are the dealer fees? Line up the doc or admin fee and any add-ons. These are the parts that change between stores.
5. Are incentives applied? Manufacturer incentives should be the same everywhere. If one quote is missing one, ask why.
6. Is the car actually available? In stock, on the way, or a factory order? A great price on a car you will wait months for may not be the best deal for you.
7. When does it expire? Quotes and rates change, often at month end.
Using one quote with another dealer
It is fair and common to tell a dealer you have a better written offer. Keep it simple and honest. You do not need to share the other dealer's name.

When dealer quotes arrive on your inquiry, CarFaster lines them up side by side and highlights the difference in total price and fees for you.
